For Hectic Moms – Tips To Make More Me-Time

We’ve all had one of those days, the days where you dream of getting onto a plane to the Bahamas and never coming back. Life is hectic nowadays and moms are incredibly pressured to be super-moms, professionals and fab friends. But what about you and your time?

Here are some ideas on how you can reclaim a bit of me-time for yourself.

We forget how easy it is to slap on a pair of takkies and hit the road for a brisk walk. The sun only sets much later in the summertime so it’s easy to go for a quick potter around the block if you work full-time. It is instant me-time and helps release your happy hormones, serotonin, and clear your head.

TOP TIP: Download a couple of interesting podcasts to listen to while you walk, you can learn and burn calories at the same time.

Virtual Play Dates And Partners For The WIN

Need a break? Rely on your pals to host virtual kiddy play dates or get your partner to kick a ball around. It’s easy to forget your mom-friends when you’re feeling overwhelmed so make a point of scheduling your virtual play dates so that you can plan your downtime more effectively. You can always take turns so that every mom gets a bit of regular downtime weekly.

Make More Downtime With Tech

Are you still shopping the old-fashioned way? What a waste of time. Rather make your shopping list and do a quick online shop that can get delivered to your home. There are several online retailers that promise next-day delivery and several (amazing and only slightly more expensive) apps that can deliver groceries within the hour. Use the hour you would have spent schlepping around the mall and have a soothing bath instead.

Start a Hobby

As mothers, we often “lose” ourselves in our kid’s lives. Reclaim your brain, identity and interests by taking up a hobby just for you. Creative? Why not take up pottery or creative writing classes? Love gardening? Make a commitment to spend time with your plants. Whatever it is, schedule it in, commit to it as if it’s a work appointment. You’re worth it!
