How many people does it serve?

This should be an easy question to answer, but in South Africa, it’s complicated, due to our colourful multi-cultural rainbow nation.

  1. In an Anglo Saxon household, each pizza/meal should feed between 4 to 6 guests.
  2. In a Mediterranean, Ethnic or African home it could feed as little as 1 to 3 people for a single meal as food needs to be experienced in large quantities.
  3. If you’re of Scandinavian extraction, each meal could last you a month!

Then we need to look at your emotional state, as that is a determining factor when dealing with quantities.

  1. Have you had a terrible day with your boss?
  2. Did you fight with your spouse?
  3. Are your kids driving you insane?
  4. Is your wi-fi slower than the Groot Trek?
  5. Is the lockdown getting to you?
  6. Did that hot guy from the gym eventually whatsapp you?
  7. How are you doing with those skinny jeans?
  8. Is your mother-in law doing what mother-in laws do?
  9. What season of Game of Thrones are you watching?

All these contributing factors could influence the amount you will choose to eat; Ranging from “just a slice/bite” to “call in the kitchen Calvary we’re going down babies”!

FOR THIS QUICK RECIPE YOU WILL NEED

SHOPPING LIST

  • 1 x Familia Chicken & Jalapeño Pizza
  • 1 x avocado
  • Bottle of mayonnaise
  • Sesame seeds
  • olive oil
  • Sriracha Sauce
  • Lemon
  • Coriander
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper

QUANTITIES OF INGREDIENTS

  • 1 x avocado
  • 1 x flat tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1 x juice of medium lemon
  • Zest of 1 x lemon
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 ½ tbsp. sriracha sauce
  • 1 x heaped tbsp. chopped coriander
  • ½ flat tsp. garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

METHOD

  1. Place your chicken and jalapeño pizza into a preheated oven (200deg) for 10 to 12 minutes.

Now let’s get the Sriracha mayo sauce ready. This will take you 30 seconds to put together.

  1. In a small bowl, add your mayonnaise, your lemon juice, lemon rind, garlic powder, your chopped coriander, your sriracha sauce, salt and pepper to taste and mix until all the ingredients have fused together.

That’s it! That’s your sauce ready! Set aside.

  1. Take your avocado and cut in half. Remove the pip. Now there are two ways of doing this:
  • You can either remove the avocado flesh from the skin and then slice the avo

OR

  • You slice the avo in the skin and then gently remove each slice from the skin using a small utility knife.
  1. Squeeze some lemon juice onto the avocado to prevent it from going brown.
  2. By now your pizza should be ready. Remove from oven and place on board or counter top and with a sharp knife or a pizza wheel, cut the pizza into 6 or 8 slices.
  3. Add a piece of the sliced avocado onto each pizza slice.
  4. Sprinkle the avocado slices with sesame seeds.
  5. And drizzle your sriracha mayo sauce over your pizza. Keep some in the bowl so that you can spoon on extra as you like.

Call on the family or if it’s just for you, switch on some Netflix, grab your pizza and get comfy on the couch!
